The machine is rated fair overall visually, but good mechanically and electrically. The core structure is intact and functional, but it has suffered from neglect with heavy rust, accumulated debris, and a missing safety guard are the primary concerns.

Visual / Cosmetic Condition — FAIR
• Paint: Heavily worn, chipped, and peeling across the headstock casing, bed sides, and tailstock body.
• Rust & Corrosion: Significant surface rust on the tailstock barrel and the cam/gear components near the headstock.
• Bed ways: Longitudinal machining marks and light wear scratches from regular use with no deep gouging or chatter damage.
• Chip tray: Significant accumulation of swarf, coolant residue, and debris; the tray lining is worn and corroded.
• Tailstock quill: Surface discolouration, fading scale markings, and visible gouging/damage on the surface.
• Carriage apron: Visually clean with only minor cosmetic paint chips.
• Headstock: No visible cracks or structural damage; dried oil residue around the gearbox inspection port, but no active leaks.

Mechanical Condition — GOOD
• Spindle: Runs smoothly with no detectable radial play at low and medium speeds.
• Gearbox: All speed steps engage correctly via the headstock levers; there is no grinding or slippage.
• Lead screw & feed rod: Straight, no bending or significant corrosion
• Carriage & cross slide handwheels: Smooth operation with minimal backlash.
• Compound slide: Moves freely with no sticking or binding.
• 3-jaw chuck: Grips firmly, jaw movement is smooth, no detectable scroll wear.

Electrical Condition — GOOD
• Main on/off switch works correctly; there is no sticking or sparking.
• Motor runs without unusual noise, overheating, or vibration across all speeds.
• Wiring is insulated and safely routed; no exposed conductors.
